Sinisa Zimek
Sinisa Zimek is the chief strategy officer of IWTS-BP, a non-profit organization
that promotes the development and deployment of Web technologies and standards in
business process management. He is recognized as thought leader and influential
industry actor in the areas of business process management, Web technology and open
Internet standards.
Since 1990, Sinisa Zimek has been designing and developing object-oriented systems,
including object models in business process modeling, for companies such as Mercedes-Benz,
AEG, Siemens, Bosch and others. As a researcher in object-oriented query languages,
he has written and delivered speeches and training courses in Europe and the US.
For many years, Mr. Zimek has been actively involved in setting the direction and
strategy in industry leading organizations such as OASIS, W3C, WS-I, BPMI.org, UDDI.org,
XML.org and others, through assignments as an executive and technical board director
and advisory board member.
Most recently, he was instrumental in leading the industry-wide initiative Web Services-Interoperability
organization (WS-I) to its full potential.
Sinisa is a recognized technical leader and co-author of industry-leading specifications,
like the Web Services Choreography Interface 1.0 (WSCI), which became the foundation
of the Web Services Choreography Workgroup at the W3C. He is an active speaker at
international events and technical conferences.
From 1995 through 2004, Sinisa has been holding various executive and senior management
positions at SAP in the US and Europe.
He did his Ph.D. studies in the area of computer supported collaborative work and
human computer interactions; he received his master degree in computer science in
1989 from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany.
